Help us helping
In 2012, 7 friends sat around a kitchen table and decided that enough was enough. Their city could no longer be without a fire brigade. And so GBCV, or group of volunteer civil firefighters was born.
In the beginning we had no more than a coverall and a plastic helmet, but gradually we have been able to grow and equip our members with the necessary gear.
Besides attending fire and EMT emergencies, our NGO also has several social projects, such as a youth fire brigade for children from vulnerable backgrounds.
Every year "our” Santa Claus visits the poorest neighbourhoods to hand out toys and sweets to those who would otherwise receive nothing.
More than 10 years later we have cemented a strong reputation with the local government, having been recognized as an institution of public utility in 2014.
We still do everything with about nothing. Our annual budget lies below 2000$ and without the help of various fire departments from all over the world who have donated to our cause, we would not be able to perform our job. Our volunteers pay for their own uniform, insurance and often help in the acquisition of spare parts.
Our first fire truck
After months of negotiating she finally arrived: our very first fire truck to be.
Until the grand day of her first intervention we'll be busy, very busy. We have already added a water tank and borrowed a Volkswagen Beetle engine for the pump. But the breaks still need to be overhauled, the tires replaced, ...
For these steps we count on your help. Our volunteers have already participated, so what are you waiting for?
